About Jackie Moore
More than a counselor, I am a wife, mother of two young adult daughters, sister, daughter, care giver, friend, educator and member of my community filling many roles which compliment each area of my life. I am also a Jesus-follower who finds deep satisfaction and security in who I am based upon who He is and what He has done. The foundation of my therapeutic approach is found in Christ’s words (John 8:32) “And you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.”
I am convinced we are created for safe and secure relationships with others, ourselves and God. I gently, skillfully and collaboratively support clients in identifying cycles of protection and misperceptions that develop from painful interactions (with oneself or others). Patterns of protection in relationship often work against, and may even harm over time, the relationships we want most to succeed. These protective cycles develop from natural, God-given responses to threat such as fight or flight. Once we identify a client's various and preferred protections, we form and practice together new patterns of relating and sharing which foster corrective healing experiences. By practicing and processing experiences in session, clients become equipped to implement new patterns of relating and connecting outside the session.
Through careful observation and exploration within a safe therapeutic environment, we discover together vulnerable longings, losses, hurts and fears, in addition to protective coping behaviors that surface naturally in the wake of difficult life experiences in order to grow, repair and heal relationships previously distressed by destructive cycles of hurt and pain.
For clients who explicitly request a faith-based approach, I engage accordingly; and I am equally willing to offer secular, research-based approaches without faith inclusion. I work with clients where they are in an honoring and respectful way. More than the requirements of my ethics codes, my personal core values honor all persons regardless of race, ethnicity, national origin, color, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, political preference, ability or disability, protected veteran status or any other characteristic protected by law.
